Session One:

October 21-24, 2011

 

 Introduces NCCAP certification, course and practicum requirements as well as an in depth study of Federal and State regulations for the entire long term care continuum. Current SNF, Adult Day Care, Assisted Living and Adult Home regulations to be presented. The new QIS Survey process will also be presented.  Activity Service Practice Settings, Colloquy/Communication will be covered.

 

Session Two:

November 18—21, 2011

 

 Documentation of the activities department. Professional Initial Assessments, attendance recording, MDS, Care Planning, Individualized Service Plans, Quarterly Assessments and Incidental documentation will be presented. A  thorough discussion of the current trends in activities documentation will be presented. Professional Framework, Governmental and Social Systems, Advocacy: in the Public

Arena and the Behavioral Sciences, Adult Client Population, Professional Approach to Care.

 

 

This is MEPAP Part 1, it is one step toward NCCAP Certification. MEPAP Part 2 will be offered upon the completion of this section.

Activities Assistance teaches the MEPAP in two parts.

 

 

Session Three:

February 24 - 27, 2012

Depending on the weather

Review of regulatory requirements, the aging process in long term care and how to adapt programs to meet the needs and interests of the residents in each facility. In accordance with the “New” Interpretive guidelines meeting the specific individual needs and interests of the residents will be presented and discussed.

Care Planning Practices, Care Giving Practices (Service Delivery) Planning, implementing and evaluating specific programs to meet the needs and interests of your current resident population. Group and individualized activities for all cognitive levels of involvement. Assistance with NCCAP process and individual certification applications.

 

Student must attend all four sessions and complete the 90 hour practicum.  This course also contains homework assignments, projects, presentations and a final exam. Each student will need to select a Practicum Supervisor prior to the start of the class.  The practicum can be completed at their facility. If the student is not currently at a facility, they will have to find one to complete the assignments.  Student must have High School Diploma or GED.
