All sessions are designed to assist activity professionals and those interested in becoming activity professionals in all levels of long term care, assisted living and retirement communities to learn and share educational components that are unique to the activities profession.

Sessions are held in 4 – 3 day weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and are intentionally held in at least 6 month intervals in order for the participants to complete the course and the required 90 Hour practicum, which can be completed in the participants facility.

MEPAP Part One (CC 1-11)



Session One:

Introduces NCCAP certification, course and practicum requirements as well as an in depth study of Federal and State regulations for the entire long term care continuum. Current SNF, Adult Day Care, Assisted Living and Adult Home regulations to be presented.



Session Two:

Review of regulatory requirements, the aging process in long-term care and how to adapt programs to meet the needs and interests of the residents in each facility. In accordance with the “New” Interpretive guidelines meeting the specific individual needs and interests of the residents will be presented and discussed.


Session Three:

Documentation requirements of the activities department. Professional Initial Assessments, attendance recording, MDS, Care Planning, Quarterly Assessments and Incidental documentation will be presented. A thorough discussion of the current trends in activities documentation will be presented.

Session Four:

Planning, implementing and evaluating specific programs to meet the needs and interests of your current resident population. Group and individualized activities for all cognitive levels of involvement. Assistance with NCCAP certification process and individual certification applications.

MEPAP 2nd Edition Part Two (CC12-19)

Session One
This session covers the actual survey process including the information used by the surveyors during their preparation for inspecting their facilities. A life of dialog, leadership and advocacy issues are also presented, and includes time management techniques, public relations programming, marketing of the activities department as well as the facility and establishing an educational component for teaching others about the facility and the activities department.

Session Two
Covering the administrative aspects of the Activities Department including but not limited to, job descriptions, interviewing, management and termination of employees and volunteers. This session also includes an in depth presentation of recruitment and retention of volunteers in students facilities


Session Three
This session includes information about managing today’s activities department. An in depth exploration of quality assurance programs, communication and staff managements techniques will be presented. Colloquy and communication techniques for successfully managing a quality activities program.A life of dialog continues in this session with emphasis on communication with staff, volunteers and the community. Community involvement that will enhance the quality of life for your residents and your facility will be presented. The final exam as well as the final presentations will be included in this session.
